2014 Sacramento Source to Sea
In May of 2014, Rivers for Change will embark on a Source to Sea expedition on California’s iconic Sacramento River. Our team will navigate the entire Sacramento watershed by human power beginning with an ascent of Mount Shasta, paddling down the Sacramento River, and concluding under the Golden Gate Bridge. Along the way, we will engage with communities and explore the story of the river, its future, and people’s connection to it.
The Sacramento is California’s longest river, whose region alone encompasses almost 3.5 million people. The Sacramento River is the main supply for much of California’s urban and agricultural areas and is at the center of California’s battle for a more sustainable water system and a healthier Bay Area Delta.
